How we got here
A gundog in every good memory.
My best hunting memories have always had a gundog in them. I grew up chasing cottontails behind beagles on Ohio's rolling farmland, a passion that eventually led to breeding my own litters and becoming an AKC judge. After college, that shifted to labs — waterfowl and upland, side by side. Then I saw my first rise over a pointed GSP, and that was it. Obsessed. No turning back.
For years we split our time — summers at our camp in the UP, flyfishing for trout and scouting logging roads for popple slashes to hunt that fall. Eventually the choice made itself. We sold the farm in Ohio and moved to the UP for good.
Around the fire
The same dog, just quieter.
A hard-charging field dog and a well mannered dog aren't opposites — they're the same dog with an off switch. Every River Washed Gundog is as comfortable curled up next to the kids as it is covering ground on an October morning.
